Position: Sailing Instructors Full and Part-Time

Pay: Ranging from $16 – 23/hr, plus overtime. Based on certifications & years of experience.

Qualifications:

Head Instructor – Level 2 US Sailing Small Boat Instructor Certification(highly recommended)

Race Instructor – Level 2 US Sailing Small Boat Instructor Certification (required for certain regattas)

Sailing Instructor – Level 1 US Sailing Small Boat Instructor Certification(min. required)

All Positions – US Sailing Safe Sport training (required)First Aid and CPR certified, including concussion protocol (required)WI DNR Boater License/Education Card (required)Knowledge of CDC, WI DOH, City/County of Milwaukee and South Shore Yacht Club guidelines and protocol

General Schedule 10-week work season, from about mid-June to late-August

Benefits Scholarships for US Sailing training available. Meal per each Shift. Mileage and housing reimbursement for regattas. Uniform provided.

Personal Qualities for all positions:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A valid US Sailing Level One Instructor Certification
    • CPR/First Aid Certification
    • Safe Boating Certificate
    • Safe Sport Certification
    • Strong References to character and sailing experience/ability.Ability to manage 15+ subordinates.
    Ability to create and implement curriculum for all Junior Sailing Programs.
    Ability to coach all levels of sailing, with an expected high proficiency in advanced junior sailing (singlehanded, double-handed platforms).
    Good communication skills with parents, sailors, and committee).
    Professional and approachable attitude.
    Support the program directors with tasks pertaining to summer program planning, hiring, and organizing.
    Assists with recruitment of coaches for Summer programs.
    Oversee Summer Program, direct 75 Junior Sailors and 6 coaches.
    Oversee and monitor the Junior Instructor Program.
    Organize Regattas, trailer assignments, towing, coaching, accommodations for level class assignments.

Experience:

  • Education & Instruction Occupations: 1 year (Preferred)
