After several years working on the most efficient racing boats in the world, Antoine Mainfray set out in La Rochelle to build a Mini 650 in bamboo.
The structure of the sailboat will only use bio-sourced and recyclable materials.
When we run out of oil, we will need ideas. Good thing, Antoine Monfray has a good head with good ideas in it. On his CV, a BTS in shipbuilding, a license in high performance composite structures and an architectural diploma. In short, the thirty-something can quite simply imagine, draw, and build his own boats.
Before setting up on his own, Antoine therefore participated in the construction of the best offshore racing yachts; the Groupama 4 of Franck Cammas who won the Volvo Ocean Race in 2011, the maxi trimaran Gitana or Imoca from the Vendée Globe like Hugo Boss. Race animals that make you dream but which, unfortunately, are not without impact on the oceans they crisscross. Read on.
Apologies to the Stones for the title butchery.
