We raced in the SDYC New Year’s Day race, and it what is very typical for “winter” sailing in San Diego, the wind was light (2-8) and the tides were huge (7 plus feet of tidal movement!). We were in class 4 in which we were supposed to fly something “resembling” yellow (our class flag). Nobody had worn their yellow panties, and this is all we had on the boat, so we let it fly!
Must have worked – in a race that most boats didn’t finish by the 4pm finish deadline, Anarchy V was first in class and first overall. Yay! – ed.
