ericson 35-2 wins, just not this one

Yes indeed, an Ericson 35-2 has won the SDYC Hot Rum Series in class and overall, and for a second time in a row, which is really impressive. And it most certainly not the one pictured here, which  is Anarchy V! I sailed a marginal series to end up 4th in class and 18th overall out of 129 boats. My crew, on the other hand, did really well. Here we have slid the weight forward to get the ass out of the water (perhaps a bit too much) on one of the many light air legs.

Truly, we got our hats handed to to us by Wani (the other 35-2), which sailed flawlessly and had a clear speed advantage over us most of the time. It was disheartening for sure, and yes had we made better decisions, we quite likely would have finished second to them, but we couldn’t touch them in this one.

We’ll keep at it and are going to line up against them soon for some testing to see where we are losing to them.¬† Picture thanks to Anarchist Colleen.
