ORC, Melges IC37 – Newport Race Week – Final Results – Vesper ORC1, Fox ORC2 and BlazerII IC37 overall winners


After three days of great sailing weather, the wind gods decided to offer fog and a hide-and-seek southerly yesterday. The Melges IC37 Class got in one race in limited visibility. The ORC classes lone attempt at a race was abandoned halfway through when the breeze dropped to nothing. —– Congratulations to the overall winners: Vesper in ORC1, Impetuous in ORC2, and Blazer II in Melges IC37. —– The podiums in the three classes: OCR1 – 1st the TP52 Vesper of David Team, Newport Beach, CA, USA, ahead of the Botin 52 Fox of Victor Wild, San Diego, CA, USA, and Bella Mente, the Maxi 72 of Hap Fauth, Naples, FL, USA. —– ORC2 – 1st the Swan 42 Impetuous of Paul Zabetakis, Jamestown, RI, USA, followed by the J/109 Leading Edge of William Sutton, Houston, TX, USA and the Farr 30 Das Blau Max of Cory Sertl, Jamestown, RI, USA. —– Melges IC37Christopher Culver, Newport, TI, USA, on Blazer II ahead of Pacific Yankee of Drew Freides /Bill Ruh, Los Angeles, CA, USA, and Qubit of Chris Lewis, Seabrook, TX, USA. —– The final results, the event Facebook page with reports and photos, the event website, and the Awards Show, the final video with the Race Week Summary (after 18min).
