World Sailing – Word sailing in troubled times

Communication at its best! —– In an interview of Mikkel Thommessen of with Gary Jobson USA, World Sailing Vice-President after the World Sailing Board meeting on June 8th, all relevant subjects about the status of World Sailing were discussed. —— On our pages, we reported variously on the tensions within World Sailing, especially in connection with the management style of the President, the governance in general, and the critical financial situation, exacerbated by the Corona crisis and the postponement of the 2020 Olympic Games. The General Assenbly scheduled for November in Abu Dhabi with the election of the President and Executive Board as well as important business on the agenda cannot take place for obvious reasons. A vote is currently underway with the Member National Authorities on whether an electronic election of the Executive Board may be carried out. Todays President Kim Andersen DEN will be challenged by Gerardo Seeliger ESP, a well-known, highly qualified presidential candidate, as matters stand now.
