Just before the corona crisis broke out worldwide, 25 Dutch students left for Sint Maarten. The students, between 14 and 17 years old, would follow a teaching program on board a ship about nature and sustainability. For six weeks they would sail along the Windward Islands, Jamaica and Cuba on board the Frisian sailing ship Wylde Swan .

After 2.5 weeks of sailing, the ship was overtaken by the corona measures. It was now clear that the students would no longer be able to fly back, says Christophe Meijer of travel organization Masterskip. So it was decided: we sail back to Harlingen. Read on.
