In New South Wales, the state of Australia that includes Sydney and its magnificent harbour, the government yesterday refined their social distancing rules in a way that allows some level of non-competitive sailing.
As long as there is 4 square metres of space per person on board, everyone keeps their distance, and you are sailing for exercise, then it’s now legal to take your boat out for a spin. For a normal 36-foot monohull that means three or four can sail together.
Those who did the math had a lively Westerly breeze of 20+ knots today and enjoyed a splendid sail.
Life goes on. Comment.
