A couple of summers ago when I had the honor of serving as the DYC race chair, Duluth experienced an active weather pattern that seemed to develop a storm almost every Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesdays during that summer I would pull up several different weather forecasts, obsessively monitor the weather radar and consult with John Hoenig multiple times during the day, all to try and predict if the storm cell would make a direct hit on the fleet, skirt to the south or stall out before it hit the big cold lake.
