Olympic Worldcup 2020 – Act 2 – Miami FL, USA – Day 1

Perfect Biscayne Bay conditions prevailed on day one of the Miami Olympic Classes Regatta, the second event of the 2020 World Cup, yesterday, and all seven classes present completed two races. —– In the good quality 470 Men fleet, the first leaders are Dahlberg/Bergström SWE 5 points ahead of Sozykin/Gribanov RUS. —– In the 470 Women, Lecointre/Retornaz FRA won both races. Berta/Caruso ITA and Löwe/Markfort GER are the first persuers. ———– In all other classes, the race for the last North American 2020 Olympic berths is key. The fleets are mostly very small with only a few participants from other continents. —– In the Lasers Standard, Joaquin Blanco ESP won both heats. Andrew Lewis TTO (Trinidad/Tobago) and Stefano Peschiera PER (Peru) are the first challengers. —– In the Lasers Radial, Viktoria Andrulyte LTU (Lithuania) is first ahead of Nethra Kumanan IND (India) and Ebru Bolat ROU (Romania). —– Emphasis for the US Sailing Team is in the Finns, where the duel between Caleb Paine USA – 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist – and Luke Muller USA for the Olympic Team selection is underway.
