Many talked about it, but they were only two duos of the Transat Jacques Vabre in Le Havre in Normandy dare try the famous west option. The duo Crédit Mutuel is one of the two. Around 2 am, at the heart of this first night race tonic particularly for all the crews, Ian and Adrian left the “right way” to drive north-west to British shores.
And in mid-morning, they jibed to slide back to the southwest in just to the north of the “DST Ouessant” (navigation area reserved for maritime traffic). Since they are among the fastest Class 40 fleet, with an average of up to 18 to 19 knots! More here.
On a more sober note:
At 06:50 (UTC) this morning, while leading the Class40 fleet, British skipper, Luke Berry and his French co-skipper, Tanguy Le Turquais, informed the race management of the Transat Jacques Vabre Normandie Le Havre that their Class40, Lamotte – Module Creation, had dismasted. The two skippers are doing well and are safe onboard the boat.
