Various Classes – 2019 Big Boat Series – San Francisco CA – Day 3, a perfect Frisco Bay seabreeze day


After two light-wind days, due to the unusual high temperatures, the Frisco Bay seabreeze was back yesterday, initially around 10kn increasing during the day and ending with gusts of up to 25kn, allowing to complete two races. —– Leader change in the J/70s but the first three teams of John Brigden (Menlo Park, CA, USA), Tracy Usher (Montara, CA, USA) and Scott Sellers/Geoff McDonald/Harrison Turner (Emerald Hills, CA, USA) are only three points apart. In the J/105, the largest fleet, Ryan Simmons (Sausalito, CA, USA) extended the lead on 9 points with the day ranks 1 and 2. —– In the ORR A class,Elyxir, the Santa Cruz 52 with Skip Ely (La Selva Beach, CA, USA) is new on top, but Blue, the Swan 53-2 of Paul Ray (San Francisco, CA, USA) is only 2 points behind. No change in the ORR B with Kuai, the Melges 32 of Daniel Thielman, San Francisco, CA, USA, on first with a 7 point lead. Close racing however in the ORR C with the trio Chance, the J/120 of Barry Lewis (Atherton, CA, USA), Elusive, the Swan 42 Club of Thomas Furlong (Danville, CA, USA) and Peregrine, the J/120 of David Halliwill (New York, NY, USA) separated by 3 points only. —– All results, the news of day 3 and the Big Boat event website. —– Racing continues today, Sunday, September 15, with a scheduled Bay Tour course designed to give crews plenty of opportunities to air-out their upwind and downwind inventories one final time.
