420 & 470 – Junior European Championship – Vilagarcia de Arousa ESP – Day 1, Hurwitz/Froelich 420 best USA team on 9th


Good sailing conditions prevailed on the first day of the 420/470 Junior European Championships in Northern Spain allowing to complete two races in the 420s and three in the 470s. —– Conrad Konitzer/Fernando Rodriguez ESP have taken the lead in the 420 Open one point ahead of Tal Sade/Noam Homri ISR on 2nd. Kristian Lenkmann/Philipp Hall GER follow on rank 10. Best of the 4 USA teams among the 92 starters are Oliver Hurwitz/Ethan Froelich (American YC/Austin YC) on the 9th place. —– In the 420 U17, Alberto Morales/Miguel Bethencourt ESP and Neus Ballester/Andrea Perello ESP are tied on top. Benjamin Honig/Connor Fischetti USA (Old Cove YC) are 31st in the 40 boat fleet. —– In the 470 Open/Mixed, Jerome Demange/Luc Guimberthaud FRA won all 3 races of their group. Arran Holman/Marcus Tressler GBR and Nikolaos Brelakis/Nikolaos Georgakopoulos GRE are the first challengers. No USA teams. —– In the 470 Women, Theres Dahnke/Birte Winkel GER are on rank 1 ahead of Charlotte Yven/Julia Colombe FRA and Helena and Luise Wanser GER.
