SSL Nations Gold Cup 2021 – A new era in competitive sailing dawned with the official launch in Lausanne SUI


As from 2021, the Nations Gold Cup shall be held biannually on 47-foot–One-Design-Yachts provided by the organisers. All 144 Member National Authorities of World Sailing have been invited to participate. Up to now, forty countries from all five continents confirmed their participation. A maximum of 48 teams will be able compete in this first edition of the SSL Gold Cup to be held in Switzerland on Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Geneva. — Yesterday, the event was officially launched at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne SUI with the Captains of 20 teams present, a who-is-who in sailing, with names such as Robert Scheidt BRA, Paul Cayard USA, Mateusz Kusznierewicz POL, Freddy Lööf SWE, Jochen Schümann GER, Sime Fantela CRO… and more. The Captain of the USA Team is Paul Cayard, of the Canadian Team Richard Clarke. The make-up of the eleven sailors in each national team will be strictly controlled.
