Figaro 3 – Sardinha Cup – Sain-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie FRA – Leg 3 – Start postponed

The start to the third and last leg 3 of the Sardinha Cup, planned for today Tuesday, has been postponed to the coming weekend. The Bénéteau Figaro 3, first production foiling one-design monohull, was in real stress-test, especially in the rough conditions of the second leg of its inaugural offshore regatta during almost three days on the open sea. 9 of the 34 teams were forced to abandon the race. Most equipment failures were at the spreader fixings causing mast breaks. Time is needed for repairs … and the recovery time for the two-person teams is appreciated as well. — Leading in the overall rankings after to legs are Pierre Leboucher/Erwan Tabarly FRA. The first mixed-team Yann Eliès FRA/Samantha Davies GBR, both 2020 Vendée Globe skippers, follows on rank 2. Handicapped by equipment problems and therefore down in the combined 2-leg rankings are among others the mixed-teams Justine Mettraux/Gwenolé Gahinet FRA (rank 20), Lou00efc Peyron/Amélie Grassi FRA (rank 27) and Joan Mulloy/Mike Golding GBR (rank 32). — The reports.
