Star – Bacardi Cup 2019 – Miami FL, USA – Day 5

Fresh winds of 18 to 20kn prevailed again on Biscayne Bay yesterday during race 5 of the Star Bacardi Cup, traditionally very long with upwind legs of 2 miles. Again, Paul Cayard/Magnus Lilljedahl USA finished on top but the overall leaders Eric Doyle/Payson Infelise USA on rank 2 defended their first place before the crucial sixth heat today. A win in the final race is mandatory for Cayard/Lilljedahl USA to move on top overall, provided Doyle/Infelise USA with a 4th place as discard up-to-now fail to deliver today. With the worst rank scratched, Mateusz Kusznierwicz POL/Frithjof Kleen GER moved up on rank 3. Another point behind follow Melleby NOR/Revkin USA. Last years winners Diego Negri/Sergio Lambertenghi ITA and Xavier Rohart/Pierre-Alexis Ponsot FRA on the ranks 5 and 6 still have a say for a medal. The results and the daily news.
