Olympic Worldcup 2019 – Olympic Classes Regatta – Miami FL, USA – Day 1


Moderate, unconstant winds from the shore prevailed on the first day of the Olympic Worldcup Regatta in Miami FL, and – depending on the Class – one to three races were held. In the RS:X Men windsurfers, Angel Granda ESP and Bing Ye CHN share the lead, 2 points ahead of Pawel Tarnowski POL on 3rd. In the RS:X Women, Yunxiu Lu CHN won the only race of the day followed by Flavia Tartaglini ITA. The Finns completed also only one heat with Jonathan Lobert FRA on first ahead of Josip Olujic CRO and Luke Muller USA.In the 470 Men, Dahlberg/Bergström SWE have taken the lead after two races with Ferrari/Calabro ITA and McNay/Hughes USA as first challengers. Skrzypulec/Ogar POL won both races in the 470 Women. Oster/Winkel GER and di Benedetta/Dubbini ITA follow on the positions 2 and 3 overall. In the 49ers, the leaders are Peters/Sterritt GBR closely followed by the tied Botin/Iago ESP and Fantela/Fantela CRO on point behind. In the 49erFX, Sophie Weguelin/Sophie Ainsworth GBR won the only race of the day ahead of Maloney/Meech NZL. In the Nacra 17, Daniel Albrecht/Gabriela Nicolina BRA occupy rank 1 overall with two bullets in the three races completed.
