Contrary to previous years, the sailing conditions have been very accommodating so far with a northerly rear wind of 15-20 kn, and the fleet has been making good progress direction Hobart.The four Super Maxis still underway – Scallywag of David Witt AUS was forced to retire – are sailing a close race. Comanche of Jim Cooney USA leads 2nm ahead of Wild Oats XI with Mark Richards AUS, Black Jack and Infotrack follow not far behind. This morning UTC at press deadline, 240nm were left to the finish line. A very hot battle lies ahead and the decision will be open until the last miles.
