The Open 60 Route du Rhum finish ended with an unexpected incident. The safe leader Alex Thomson GBR crashed with his Hugo Boss on a rock off the Guadeloupe island 80nm before the arrival. He succeeded to free the boat that had only minor damage using the engine, but he was penalized with a 24hrs time correction for using the motor. Arriving 12hrs after Thomson, Paul Meilhat FRA (SMA) with his non-foiling Open 60 was declared winner. On rank 2 followed Yann Eliès FRA arriving 2hrs later. Alan Roura SUI is still in duel for rank 6 with Damien Séguin FRA 40nm ahead. Yesterday, two more Multis 50 crossed the finish line: Erwan Le Roux FRA and Thibault Vauchel-Camus FRA. In the Class 40, Yoann Richomme FRA is now 92nm ahead of Phil Sharp GBR, and they are expected to arrive on Monday.
