In a dramatic final, Charles Caudrelier FRA and his team managed to turn a 50-mile lag into a stage win yesterday and thus also into the overall victory in the last few hours of the race. Dongfeng being initially in a leading position choose a risky strategy close to the Dutch coast and lost a lot at first. However, in the final miles they benefitted from stronger winds and a better angle to the wind, which resulted in a much higher speed. As a consequence, Dongfeng arrived at the finish line more than half an hour ahead of their rivals. Mapfre with Javi Fernandez ESP finished third and took second place overall, Brunel (Bouwe Bekking NED) had to settle for third place in the final ranking.
