Olympic Worldcup 2018 – Finals – Marseille FRA – Day 6 – Gold for Italy, France and Israel

In a moderate seabreeze yesterday the medal races of the Nacra 17-Catamarans and the RS:X-Windsurfers brought the first decisions of the worldcup finals in Marseille. Surprise in the medal race of the RS:X-Women: Coming from 5th overall, Nora Geller ISR succeded to claim the top of the rankings by winning the medal race. Lilian De Geus NED, leading the whole week fell back to 2nd, just one point back. The bronze medal goes to Stefania Elfutina RUS. In the RS:X-Men-Fleet the French dominated with a triple victory: Pierre Le Coq FRA on first followed by Thomas Goyard FRA and Louis Giard FRA. Their third worldcup victory in a row conquered Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA in the Nacra-17-Katamaranen. Vittorio Bisarro/Maelle Frascari ITA and Ben Saxton/ Nicola Boniface GBR are completing the podium.All other classes sail their medal races today – we will transmit live on our site. With 7 points advance for Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS the 470 men will start their medal race. Xammar/Rodriguez ESP and Winkel/Cipra GER follow on ranks 2 and 3. Top ranked 470 women remained Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR 8 points ahead of Silvia Mas-Depares/Patricia Cantero ESP. The fight for bronze will be intense, 6 teams are within just 6 points.
