killed by lifesaving

A 43-year-old Madison man windsurfing on Lake Mendota Wednesday was struck and killed by a boat used at UW-Madison for lifesaving duties on the lake, authorities said.
Authorities had not released the name of the man killed.
The boat and crew had been out on a call near Governor’s Island and were returning to the UW-Madison Lifesaving Station on Lake Mendota at 144 E. Gilman St. when the fatal collision took place, said Dane County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Elise Schaffer. The lifesaving crew and deputies from the Dane County Marine and Trail unit had responded to the call of a man and dog near Governor’s Island.
