third-triAbout 5 years ago, a group of Trimaran sailors said SEE YOU LATER to the St. Pete NOODS.  We took our fleet and winter regatta to the Sarasota Sailing Squadron which has hosted us – at the Cherry Pie Regatta -for the past 4 years.  Anyone who has sailed there knows what a great club this is.  They welcome us to their club, provide boats and volunteers to run the races and treat us like members of their family.  This was a HUGE change from the treatment we got in St. Pete, where we were docked against a nasty seawall and put on a course with several other fleets.
Each year we have had 15 – 20 boats and enjoyed 10 – 12 races over the three days.  This year, we have changed the name to the SARASOTA BAY MULTIHULL REGATTA (SBMR)*, which will also be the site of the 2017 Corsair Nationals.  We already have 34 boats registered, and with another 6 weeks to go, expect to see 35 – 40 boats on the starting line.  There are already big fleets of 750’s, 31’s and with a few more 27’s, or 600’s, they will have their own fleets as well.
The regatta also features kegs of beer each night, an awesome pulled pork dinner with live music on Saturday, Pizza during the awards and is near great cruising grounds for those who want to take a longer trip.  There is plenty of time to sign up, so please spread the word! More here and here.
