Found on Sunday and towed to land by fisherman, this dried out navigator (that does, indeed, resemble noted SA’er and yacht designer Bob Perry) has been identified as 59-year-old German yachtsman Manfred Fritz Bajorat. Philippine police reports don’t unravel the mystery at all, though speculative news reports seem to blame Bajorat’s mummified condition on ‘dry ocean winds’. Bajorat was last reported alive back in 2009, and after a look at the state of his Jenneau Sun-Magic 44, it’s entirely possible that this poor bastard has been floating around for seven years.
