Screen Shot 2016-01-29 at 12.32.31 PM  Organizers of the Conch Republic Cup have been careful not to call the 90-mile cruise from Key West to Cuba a “race”, and with that in mind, they called off yesterday’s start in near-perfect racing conditions of 20-25 knots from the West.  Given the pedigree of at least one of the entering vessels, we don’t blame them.  The official site shows 56 entries while only 26 are on the tracker; whether 30 boats pulled out or there’s some tracker issue, we don’t know.  Currently the start time is 1700 ET, and you can track them here.
And remember, less than two weeks to go before the big one begins, and Sailing Anarchy will be there to cover every inch of the historic rebirth of the SORC-Cuba relationship.
Exciting days ahead for Southeast racing.  ¡Vamos a Cuba!
