How long are the entrenched, formulaic junior sailing problems going to continue to foist the piggy, overpriced antiquated Opti’s and Sabots on a youth would otherwise not even bother setting foot in them if they weren’t forced to? This looks like a pretty god damn good direction to head. Wake up, junior programs, before the kids realize they’ve been duped for the last couple of decades or so… Title inspiration thanks to Young the Giant.
The Patapon is a simple, stitch and glue boat with a watertight mast pocket. The boat is built in marine ply with epoxy/glass laminates. Simple to build, very easy to sail and easily righted by a kid of ten years old. We are very interested in seeing lots of kids out on the water getting into sailing on their own boat. Watch one being built right here.
