We reported last week that several cases of the mosquito-borne Chikungunya virus were found on St. Martin; just a few days later, the Associated Press tells us that it’s spreading fast.  SXM already counts 200 cases including several over on the Dutch side, the CDC said new cases have been confirmed on the French Caribbean islands of Martinique, Guadeloupe and St. Barthelemy, and the BVI government reported a few cases a long way away on Jost Van Dyke.  These cases are hitting locals rather than travelers, meaning the virus is already in the other islands’ mosquito populations.  The good news?  The islands are stepping up their fogging programs and that means far less mosquitoes in general and nothing that long sleeves, pants, and insect repellant won’t handle.  The bad news?  It only takes one…
