This is when we throw our hands in the air and wonder how all the officious bullshit that ruins the America’s Cup did it’s very best to again, ruin today’s races. After a 30 minute delay to start race #1, Oracle once again won the start and won the day with a carefully managed bit of race craft to take the win by 33 seconds. But due to the “rule” that states the second race must start by 2:40 and does not allow for the race to start at 2:45, which is what it was going to be, the second race was cancelled.
There was not a single justifiable reason to pull the plug, but that’s what they did, with Ian Murray offering up the gem that it would have been “mathematically impossible” to race. Holy christ, it was a moment, out of a number of moments of absurdity that so detracts from this AC.
It was 2:20 PM, summy, breeze coming up, and because of some retarded, inflexible “rule”, the curtain falls, and we are are told to come back tomorrow. Weak!
