We dig the new Hydros C Class, and anarchist David wanted to to know more about their daggerboards, so here ya go!
The daggerboards are not vertical but a little bit canted, so that it has a horizontal projected area big enough to create lift and make the boat fly. Then to have a stable flight, you need an elevator on your rudder to prevent the boat for pitching. Make a boat fly is not hard but to make it stable is a little bit more tricky as you have to put the foils, elevators and weight correctly.
Depending on the boat and the way you want to control the height of the flight (auto-stable, control with a wand, control by the crew…), you can use different daggerboards geometry to choose the wanted compromise between efficiency and stability. Photos thanks to ADimages CH. – Hydros Team.
