Few people have won more world, national, and regional titles than Dave Ullman who was also named Rolex Yachtsman of the Year in 1996. Dave has likely forgotten more about sailing than most of us will ever remember, which probably explains why most races Dave enters, he is across the finish line and back at the club with the boat packed up while you and I are still slogging it up the last windward leg. Bastard!
For the last decade and a half Dave has been coaching sailors of all ages and racing ability, from America’s Cup skippers and Olympic medalists to club juniors. He is always happy to share what he knows and now in an exclusive for Sailing Anarchy, Dave has agreed to share some of his vast knowledge in a monthly column we’re calling “Ask Ullman”.
If you have a question for Dave – anything about sails, sail handling, tactics, whatever – send them to us and we will choose the best to forward on to Dave. His answers will be here for all Sailing Anarchists to read. This is a rare opportunity to ask one of the greats in sailing something you have been dying to know but maybe were too afraid to ask. So ask!
