Big Pimpin’

New England Boatworks has joined the illustrious ranks of Anarchists worldwide while marking our 25th Anniversary:  25 years of building, servicing and modifying outstanding racing and cruising yachts. Since 1988, NEB has built both sail and power yachts from 31 to over 90 feet, from day sailors to America’s Cup, Volvo contenders and Mini-Maxis. We are proud to say that our latest Bella-Mente has repeated last year’s winning ways at the Mini-Maxi World Championship by beating the best in the world at last month’s PalmaVela Regatta. We built PUMA Mar Mostro just prior to Bella Mente, and much of her DNA was transferred to this next generation.

The spring season started with the launch of our 55 knot Doug Zurn designed 50 foot Down East style powerboat. Twin 1550’s and Rolls Royce jet drives make this a very cool ride even for sailors. We have production tooling at the ready so we are prepared to build one just for the Ed!

Our latest news is that construction has started on the largest and most powerful race boat we have ever built, an 88 foot Super-Maxi record breaker.  The sheer size and power of this yacht will dwarf PUMA and Belle Mente. The tooling process has begun and we expect a 15 month build. Stay tuned for details as they emerge.

In addition to building great boats, our composite shop builds components for new boat builds, upgrades, and refits. The shop includes a 5-axis milling machine and autoclave plus the usual array of ovens and equipment to produce outstanding carbon parts. If you are in the market for a new carbon rudder, quadrant, wheel, pedestal, sprit, daggerboard, keel strut, cockpit table, instrument pod, head, or whatever you can dream up, New England Boatworks should be your source.

Our engineering staff is thoroughly versed in SolidWorks 3D modeling. We machine plugs, molds, and all cores including honeycomb.  Although much of what we do is for our own use, we have no problem working with friendly competitors and do-it-yourselfers. Read more.

But what we are most proud of are our talented employees, over 115 (and growing, need a job?  most of whom have been with us for many of those 25 years. And needless to say, we are pleased to be part of the Sailing Anarchy community in our Silver Anniversary year.
