Between the Epic girls and the MAKS Racing Team we are clearly gaining some new infatuations, and if they keep performing well, you’ll be seeing lots more of them in the coming months. Stephanie and the Epic girls scored a hard-fought third place at the WIMRA event in France, and here’s a report from Milly and her teen team MAKS, with photos from Christian Chardon and more here.
We had a great start to the final day of the WIMRA event in France, beating Anna from Sweden, then losing to Caroline, also from Sweden. The last race of the day we lost to Claudia, in a very close race with the lead changing many times on the final downwind…crossing the line with both boats overlapped, eyes on the finish boat to see who crossed first.
With three boats on one point, tie break rules came into play, and though we beat Anna and Claudia more times than they beat us in the round robin, we were a victim of the strange way ISAF tells scorers to settle tiebreaks, and we finished eighth.
Overall we had an incredibly good time, and we’d like to thank everyone who helped us in St. Quay, including Liz from WIMRA and Paulo and Francois from St Quay Portrieaux. We’d also like to ask you to check out the WIMR Series; it’s run really well, and is the only major event supporting professional women’s match racing.
And finally to everyone who has helped get us here; in particular PharmaPack and Seldén for Sailing, we cannot thank you enough. And to those of you who donated; your money went a long way, and we are immensely grateful. We hope to be back on the circuit soon, hopefully with signed sponsors next time.
As a team, we feel we’ve achieved far more than we set out to; it’s motivated us even more to push hard in training…next time, they’ll need to watch out for MAKS Racing!
Finally, please follow our Facebook Page for more news about the girls and me.
