30 years ago, Australia’s victory changed the nature of the sport’s most important competition and the face of yacht racing forever. Here’s a beautifully produced, 53-minute look at the first successful challenge in the Cup’s history through the eyes of the sailors, reporters, and community leaders who were there.  The “Australian Story” production is inspiring stuff without the puffery – in contrast to the sexy but obviously overpimped Wind Gods movie of Ellison’s win over Bertarelli that’s running on American public TV in May.  That one seems a bit more jingoist and is clearly designed to pump up a US audience before this summer’s San Francisco action — but at least Scar from The Lion King is narrating…
