It probably won’t stay quite so high when all the checks are counted, but Charleston Race Week’s registration list has officially passed the 300 mark for the first time in its history with just over 2 weeks left until the start.  Powered by scads of J/70s, Melges 20s and 24s and Viper 640s as well as a big handicap fleet, the regatta that had just 120 boats back in 2005 has grown by some 250% since, and it’s the biggest regatta of its kind in North America in more than a decade.  What’s made it such a success, and what troubles are organizers facing for the future?  We’ll be there starting the 13th of April to find out.  Look for interviews, reports, photos, and more from the friendliest city in the South.  And if you’re there…the party is on again.
