Pro Kiter Annabel van Westerop has been helping Dutch Paralympic sailor Thierry Schmitter test a new board that will allow disabled people to kite! Does the future of Paralympic sailing including a planning hull like this? It doesn’t seem too far fetched. There are substantial dangers associated with this type of thing, but it’s certainly worth a try.
To dig deeper Fiona and I took out a SUP in Tobago yesterday to see how it felt riding tandem in both planning and displacement modes. The result? Super fun! In 10 knots flying a 13 meter Cabrinha Crossbow and riding a single fin JP Australia SUP, we were jamming upwind better than all the windurfers.
