A little fun from onboard Anarchy…
The race this weekend was, believe it or not, actually called the Dennis Conner Around The Coronado Islands Race, a 30 mile race from San Diego around the North Coronado Island and back (yes, the same one that the Aegean ran into). We all looked at the North end of the Island with a bit more trepidation and more awareness of just how gnarly it actually is (well, for San Diego) as we sailed in really light air down the backside…
On Anarchy we were fast in the 4-10 knots breeze and played the backside of the Island well, passing a ton of boats there and rounding the South end of the Island with pressure that enabled us to carry our Code Zero and A2 in relatively close company with the 50’s. We figured we were doing pretty well when we saw DC waiting at the finish line and indeed we won class and beat DC for the overall win. Beating DC, ever, is hard enough,.winning the race with his name on it is actually pretty damn cool. – Ed. Photos by Eva.
