Newport was a good show, and we’ve already seen the sizeable crowds on the sea wall – an estimated 60,000 over a few days. More importantly, it looks like American sailors tuned in to the broadcast – over a million households’ worth, according to NBC officials. It bodes well for next year’s on-air coverage of the real Cup, but with little continuity in broadcasts until then, and a product that still needs work, will those million be repeat customers?
