Another big day of videos hits us after an all-on weekend thanks to the VOR. Here’s how we see it.
eyes on the prize – live
Groupama needs only a fourth place into Galway to clinch the overall victory, but with just a few miles to go, are currently second, locked in a hell of a battle with Puma and Telefonica. Camper is looking really good for the win at the moment. Puma was first around the Fastnet Rock, and they can clinch second place if they can get there. Telefonica and Camper are in a battle royale for the final podium spot with an all-hands-on-deck evening ahead. What lies beyond? Watch it all unfold live with the Livestream feed below, the tracker, and of course the Leg 9 thread.
allez les garcons
Franck Cammas continued the late-stage dominance that has allowed Groupama 4 to lock down the 2011-12 Volvo Ocean Race, sailing a flawless In-Port Race in Lorient on Saturday for the win. The Volvo TV broadcast team has also continued to improve, and this 90-minute show, with guest commentary from Alain Gautier, is a great piece of sailing imagery and audio for sailing fans everywhere. Only one real hiccup from the VOR team – it took a full day to get this replay up for hungry Youtube fans – far too long for such a fast-moving part of the race, especially when much of the fan base was out racing on Saturday, anxious to see how it went. A shorter highlight reel from all of the Lorient action is here.
all but done
If the In-Port didn’t quite complete your VOR fix, how about 20 knots of breeze, a massive spec fleet including Groupama 3 and Banque Populaire 5, and the delicious Sam Davies on the guest microphone? We’ll take it, especially since homeboys PUMA stormed out of the gate on their way to Galway and the finish of this great race. Check it here.
