Anarchist “wick” caught Il Mostro (PUMA’s Volvo boat from the last race) as she transited the Welland Canal on her way into Lake Ontario to ready for the Chicago-Mackinac race. We’re not sure how predatory cats and horseshit mix, but it could be interesting, as will the battle between perennial line honors MaxZ86 WindQuest and the somewhat beaten up Puma boat, now owned by the former owner of the 70’ Holua.
In other Mack news, Scout leader Wayne Hastings is in the second year of his program to get kids into the adventure of sailing by using Bayview Mac return deliveries as a floating classroom for the Sea Scouts. Maybe you’d like to help some kids out? If so, here’s the info:
At the end of another great race and a good time on the Island, it’s time for many boats to make a tedious journey back home. This time is an opportunity to support a learning experience for high school age Scouts and their leaders from Michigan and the metro area. The youth that will be participating see this trip home as an exciting high adventure activity, in which they will have an opportunity to build their sailing skills. Their excitement translates into an opportunity for the Mackinac race boats to provide a sailing/motoring experience that we hope will foster future crew and friendships. This adventure will expose the great sport of sailing to our community in an exciting and positive way. Wayne Hastings is anxious to talk to everyone who might be interested in participating in this program; call him at 734-718-1113 cell or [email protected]
