daring don’t

Saturday night was a windy night in Cowes, gusts of 45 plus knots ripping in from the North East, to which Cowes bay is open.

With the sailing season upon us, several Sonars, small cruiser racers, Darings, and the occasional XOD are on the moorings. Unfortunately the heavy Darings didn’t cope with the short steep swell very well, and first light showed five had not survived the night, and two more were looking "heavy". Thankfully the wind veered during the day, and those two were bailed, and survived.

The five sunk will probably be raised in the next couple of days, bailed, dried out, and will be back on their moorings ready for next weeks bank holiday weekend. –
