Action a plenty off the coast of Chile last week where the Soto 40 fleet met for their second series in the 2012 South American Cup. The Chilean Pisco Sour hangs on to the top position, but only just. The next series is off Brazil on the island of Ilhabela. There are so many 40’s out there now but it’s only the Sotos that have been able to pull decent fleets together in South America and Europe.
On the other side of the world the Soto 40s sexy little sister, the Soto 30, is about to launch. The new 30 is going to debut at the Top of the Gulf regatta in Pattaya. The UK’s Red Sailing Team is going to get the junior Soto up to speed. And they’ll have to get it up to speed quick as they’re racing in the IRC division up against a host of local fast 40’s.
