going the distance
1000 Miles, 1000 memories and 1000 emotions would describe the San Diego to PV race for the crew of the J-125 Timeshaver. “It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times.” 22+kts of boatspeed for two days, followed by 2kts of boatspeed, and in an intimate look at marine life, left us with a lifetime of what if’s! After leading the race for ¾ of the way we managed to muck it up around the tip of Cabo and lose out. Still, not bad for a new team to the offshore circuit. The J-125 is a machine and gave me some of the most fun sailing I have done in a long time. It was a tough time getting through the light stuff after the epic business we first encountered… but…. The crew stuck together and we pulled out a second in class and third overall. Sorry I did not get this out earlier but I was on a plane within 12 hours (that 12 hours is another story all together) of finishing and back in Laguna Beach for more So Cal Sailing. Next up…. NOOD regatta on the Viper 640.. mini J-125! – Keith Magnussen.
