It only took five years and an alliance with Bacardi to get back Biscayne Bay back to the level of March racing we used to see before the Miami Grand Prix booted the little boats from their now-extinct event. In fact, it’s bigger – nearly 150 boats are racing Bacardi’s Miami Sailing Week, with five fleets that include a robust 39 Melges 20s and 69 Stars.

Modern reality, decades of apathy, and a lackluster economy may be killing off big boat racing, but the little ones are coming on like gangbusters, with fleets of sporties and multihulls bigger than we’ve seen in years at numerous venues around the country. Check out the full results here and a T2P video here that actually has some good footage (if you can sit through 10 minutes and muzak soundtrack grabbed from a dentist’s office).
