I guess it all started when I sort of stepped away from sailing after doing the Olympic thing and got sucked into the kiting world. It was so much fun I felt like a little grom in an opti experiencing all the excitment of doing something totally new for the first time. I was so stoked I just wanted to share it with other sailors, and so we started making little videos here and there to help "nudge" people into the sport. At the same time I was doing the same sort of stuff in my "real job" as a marine scientist. Just trying to spread the stoke and inspire students to learn about all the cool stuff you can do as a career.
This project grew out of all of that…its basically an exploration into all the amazing people that do what they do in the water. Sailing, surfing, kiting….adventurers, scientists, athletes, EVERYBODY! The point is that we all may do different things, but the water is where we call home. Our world is facing some pretty tough challenges ahead, especially with the environment. We need to work together to solve them…and if these films can in some small way help people do that, then I’m totally stoked!" -patrick rynne
