It’s just like a regular auction, though in reverse. Every day, Anacortes boat builder and tinkerer Jim Lee has been slicing a thousand bucks off his pretty little 26-foot Dart sportboat until it sells.
The boat is a more modern version of the B25 sportboat and it looks the part, though Lee has been unable to take an order on the boat – not a big surprise considering retail cost for a well-kitted boat is over 70 grand. But not this one; today it costs $58,000, and if it’s still around on Valentine’s day, it’ll be just a tick over 50k. Given this economy, it might even get down to Melges 24 prices in a couple of weeks.
We wouldn’t say this is a great marketing ploy, or even a good PR stunt. But it might be a great way for an SAer to get an awesome deal on an overnightable sportboat/cruiser. Thread here.
