Following Clean’s enthusiastic industry report from Chicago Strictly Sail, our friends at J/Boats send in some more optimism, this time about the new J/70.
The Chicago show looks to have generated dozens of solid leads from local sailors in the Etchells, Star, PHRF/offshore, Soling, Sonar and J/24 fleets, all looking to jump into this little speedster! We’ve had similar responses so far from San Diego, Annapolis, Boston, London, Dusseldorf, Gothenburg, and, if all goes well, at Strictly Sail Pacific, too.
The recent announcement by New York Yacht Club to host the NYYC Invitational Cup Qualifiers in the J/70 has generated significant interest in the new boat, and
US production is gearing up nicely at CCF Composites in Bristol, RI – how nice to have a chance to play even a small part in turning the Rhode Island economy around! The first few hulls are rolling (seen here) and, if all goes according to plan, we’ll meet our objective of selling out production for 2012– 100+ boats in the USA and Europe. Stay tuned.
