It’s a big Friday for everyone with the big holiday just around the corner (and a happy Chanukah to those of you who are already in your December holiday), and a perfect day to feature some of our favorite videos of the week as part of our GoPro Video Contest! Remember that we are giving away 8 more GoPro Hero HD Cameras over the next 8 months, and we’ll announce our December winner next week. Get your entry posted to our Facebook page right away so you’re entered to win, and don’t forget to order your favorite budding video friends a GoPro to shoot all the action in the coming year!
santa’s new favorite
Puma Ocean Racing’s slogan “we are your new favorite team” is just cheeky enough to love, especially for a US-based bunch like your SA editorial staff. And with this Christmas video, they’re definitely Santa’s new favorite as well. Very nice work from Amory Ross, who, along with Camper’s Hamish Hooper, is emerging as the best-in-show in Volvo MCM land.
Who knew the humble International Albacore was so damned sexy? Plenty of anarchists had a hunch, but it’s good to see an old, low-cost boat really sexed up with good editing and music, especially a class that does such a good job keeping tabs on its members’ boats to ensure maximum participation.
One of our sportboat disappointments over the past couple of years has been the slow start that the ultra-high powered Shaw 650 has seen around the world, but while there hasn’t been any real commercial success for the often home-built monster, she sure does scream as evidenced by this little video on “No Limits” during a 25-knot Auckland Wednesday night. Title shout out for one of the funniest movie characters ever.
Jason Caroll’s Melges 32 ‘Argonauts’ feature mastman Petey Crawford, who continues to show why he’s one of the world’s top sailing video producers, even when working with nothing but a little GoPro video. This one is from the Gold Cup earlier this month, where Argo came fourth.
we are are the world
This video is a little gift to show all of our readers around the world how much we appreciate you coming to our little site to pass your time. Sailing Anarchy is read in 184 countries, by millions of sailing freaks, and we’re proud to be part of a community that gives every sailor a voice. Happy holidays from all of us, and enjoy this unique look at the beauty in our world from the International Space Station, with a shout to John Ball for the heads up.
