wood it is

So, chief anarchist [or is that an oxymoron?] Scot asked me what cool stuff we’re working on here at WoodenBoat.  Mostly what’s cool is April in Maine. I can’t wait for it to get warm enough to start sanding and bottom-painting so I can be doing this. But there’s a lot more as well.

Getting ready for the WOOD Regatta May 20-22, 2011 at Rock Hall Yacht Club, MD.  Getting families building boats at Family BoatBuilding at the WoodenBoat Show, June 24-29, 2011 at Mystic Seaport, CT.  Nine different kit producers are offering people instruction in building their own boats.  Drive home with your very own boat after three days.

Gussying up the building and grounds here at Boat Heaven for the 31st year of the WoodenBoat School. Lining up speakers for our upcoming trade show, IBEX [The International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference], October 17-19, in Louisville, KY.  Speakers of interest to SA readers are Gino Morrelli and Peter Melvin, Steve Clark, Steve Killing, Magnus Clarke, Mark Mills, Ben Hall, and Andrew Hurst.  Full details in May.  www.IBEXShow.com. And what I’m trying to do for kicks: to help bring back Newport Beach’s historic class of Snowbirds.
