McConaghy lifted the silverware over the weekend with their new Ker 40 winning top prize for the best boat under 45 feet at the 16th China (Shanghai) International Boat Show – a pretty cool result and follows on from McConaghy picking up the The Most Innovative Company Award at the 2010 Boat Show.
A delighted Mark Evans, Managing Director of McConaghy Boats highlighted the phenomenal interest in the Ker 40 and praised the McConaghy team for the quality of the workmanship put into all of their projects, "An incredibly fast design by Jason Ker plus a fantastic team making it is why we have been honoured with the top award in the highly competitive under 45 foot market."
The first Ker 40 left the McConaghy facility in Zhuhai China last week heading for United Kingdom to new owner Jonathon Goring, who is looking forward to scorching through the fleet in his summer racing program which includes the Rolex Fastnet race.
Hull #2 will soon be completed and on it’s way to Singapore to compete in the Asian circuit regattas whilst the third Ker 40 is heading to Sydney to carve up the competition in the blue water championships including the Rolex Sydney to Hobart.
Designer Jason Ker believes that this boat is pretty special and will perform way above its rating, highly competitive in IRC and ORCi.As one potential buyer commented, "Buy one – and build a new trophy shelf…"
