going dinghy
The new Soto 30 is halfway through construction heading for a mid-year launch. The yacht is being built in Zhuhai, China. Since the first renderings we published here the boat has changed some of the details – the sloping hatchway, molded toe rails forward, recessed jib tracks and forestay tension system and the upside-down boom vang. It’s taken on the look of a big dinghy as the Soto Acebal design’s evolved. The hatch has also moved to port with all the controls to starboard – something we’re seeing more of in pure racing boats. Up front is the axe-bow which people are either going to love or hate. There is actually a subtle chine running all the way from tip to tail. Whatcha think?
